The early years..
The beginning of the band is difficult to define, mainly ‘cause nobody quite remembers. But, given the band’s name was chosen and the first steady line up was made in 2003, this can be seen as the official birth of The Seventh. In those days the brothers Brad and Gerhard V finally met an equal twisted soul with equal goals in life: creating, playing a,d spreading the finest music mankind knows: the noble art of heavy fuckin’ metal. With new member Tony T behind the kit, the combo spawned its first songs upon the world. As a reward for all the years of hard work, the endless rehearsing, untalented or unmotivated band members they encountered before, the devil finally smiled their way and things started to work out really well for the band. Within a short period bass player Pete W. and vocalist d’Avignon joined the band. The latter was replaced after a few gigs by Tim D. and a new era began..

Only Blackness radiates..
After a period of growing, improving and writing, the first material was released upon the masses in April 2005. Although it was only a self financed mini-album, its 6 tracks received good critics in the media. As a result “Only Blackness Radiates” sold out in no time and together with the improving live performances and sound of the band it opened doors to larger shows.. During the year 2005 the band had the honour to share the stage with well-known bands as God Dethroned (NL), Summon (US) and Belgian metal heroes as Axamenta, Emeth, Fleshmould, Lemuria, Grinning Ghoul, Caducity, Herfst and many more.

Bitterness..
The future was looking bright, but then the band got knocked down by terrible news. In October 2005 bass player Pete W. decided to end his life and leave this miserable planet. Although this being a tremendous shock for the remaining members, they decided to continue their path. After all, this would’ve been Pete’s wish as well. Few months later, they found a new bass player in the person of Gert O. and started to prepare him for live string-abuse. First foreign gigs followed in 2006 as well as the FYU II fest with bands as Cryptopsy (CAN), Grave (US), Dew-scented (GER), Aborted, Hurtlocker (US), Gojira (FR).

Cursed earth..
At the end of 2006 The Seventh decides to limit the amount of live shows for 6 months in order to focus on writing material for the upcoming full album. Since the new material sounds very promising and the band got signed by the famous underground label Shiver records, no effort was spared to make the album a total killer. In search for a stellar sound, the band got in touch with Jörg Uken of German Soundlodge Studio (God Dethroned, Dew-Scented, Nightfall ..) to record the album in February and March 2007. The famous Tue Madsen of Danish Antfarm studio (Hatesphere, Aborted, Dark Tranquillity, Sick of it All, Illdisposed,…)was approached to handle the mastering duties. At the same time French illustrator Djahal was taking care of the artwork. The recording went smoothly. Accompanied by a crushing sound and amazing artwork, the result exceeds all expectations. Make sure to get your copy of this album, you won’t be disappointed! Benelux release is set for 07/07/07, the rest of the world will have to wait until august.
