Kataplexia was born in late 2002 when founding member Rodrigo Fatality(drums/vocals) a El Salvadorean born and raised that was living in Finland and still singing with hes main act Deepred,decided to make a project and record a demo. In early 2003 Rodrigo whent to studio to record a 8 song demo doing all by himself,guitars,drums,vocals,bass and decided to name that project KATAPLEXIA.Few months later the demo was picked up by local friends lable SEVERE MUSIC and released as a full lenght that later was called "MORGUE'S REALITLY" and put out by summer 2003. The album was doing really well and getting all kinda attention from the underground media so Rogrigo was thinking to search for some members and make it a band so they could play live.In no time he asked Mikael da Costa(who was playing in a local death metal,Carcase Inc.(rip)for the bass and Davi Moreira(ex-Side Effects)bouth from Sao Paulo,Brasil.The idea was to have a all latin-american band. The band started practicing and got to do their first gig in october 2003 in Finland with Necroterio(Bra),Slugathor and Forca Macabra and following the second gig in Sweden at the Gothenburg Death Fest with Rotten Sound(Fin),Despondency(Ger),Immersed in Blood(swe), Necroterio(Bra) ,Disavowed(Hol) ,etc... and got a really good responce from the audience. By 2004 the band was doing new songs and getting ready for the new album that came out early 2005 ( Catastrophic Scenes ) by the Spannish lable XTREEM MUSIC,soon after the band made their record release gig in Finland with Cutdown,Funneral Feast and Bleeding Heart(rip).Unfortually shortly after that gig bassist Mikael leave the band to follow up a life in England. The band was on hold for almost 6months searching for new members and doing some new songs and by late 2005 the band had got Miikka Merikalio who was also playing in Nerlich for bass and Eero for the second guitar becoming not a all latin-american members band anymore.This line up had some gigs around Finland but in the spring of 2006 guitarrist Eero leaves the band to focous more in hes main bands leaving the band again as a 3 peace line up. In 2006 the band was asked to do a mini tour in Spain and ex-bassist Mikael was living in Finland once again so the band got him for the bass and Miikka when to play second guitar for the tour. In june 2006 the band a 2week tour in Spain and after that guitarrist Miikka leaves the band to do hes army services in Finland and the band had its original line once again. Now the band is making new tunes for the 3rd album yet to be recorded so you all know what to expect in 2007,pure slamming blasting brutality.
