Mummification started in september of 2003. Austin Spence left the band CIRIBUS to pursue a more extreme musical project. He soon met up with Adam Weber (guitar ) who shared the same view and musical tastes. Adam had already played in various metal projects around california such as OCCISION and the two quickly began writing material. The music they created was very complex and grindy ; but with a sense of melody and dynamics. They were excited about the material and decided to add Luie Gamboa ( vocals ) previously of CIRIBUS , and Mike Williams ( bass ) to the line up. In November of 2003 Mummification released their first 3 song demo titled "Runes of blood" and started distributing it to the metal masses at local Cannibal Corpse shows,fests, and radio stations. In march of 2004 Mummification embarked on their first west coast tour with local bands Hadan and Embryonic Devourment. The tour went great and included bands such as Serpens Aeon, Drawn and Quartered, Desolation, Disharmony, Skitzo, Epicedium and many other reputable metal bands. In late 2003 they decided to part ways with their frontamn Luie and instead welcome Aaron Johnson to the band. The new line up created an even more brutal force that would slay the masses. Afetr relentless hours of practicing and writing for months they decided to record at Trident Studios Apr. 20th 2004 . The release was named "Runes of Blood".and came out very nicely and was engineered by Juan Urteaga of the band VILE. This release also landed them their first label deal with Brutalized Records. Mummification then started playing shows to promote their new release. Playing alongside such bands as IMPALED, SADISTIC INTENT, BEHEMOTH, DEEDS OF FLESH, MEATSHITS, CANNIBAL CORPSE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, ALL SHALL PERISH, INCANTATION, SADUS, SLEEP TERROR and countless other underground heavyweights - Mummification crushed with their unique style of melodic hate grind.. They also completed a U.S. tour with MEATSHITS and ARTERY ERUPTION which helped to spread the insanity oif their release "Runes of Blood". Currently Mummification are in process of writing material for their next full length to be relased by BRUTALIZED RECORDS. They are also currently setting up another U.S. tour scheduled to start in late January 2006.
