In 1996, when every kid at their age are into alternative and other mainstream music genre, it’s not the same with these three boys. Struggling to find, play and enjoys more powerful, extreme and the one that pumps the adrenaline, the only one that crossed their minds is something that wasn’t really common to most people, and that would be extreme metal. And for sharing the same passion and vision in music, comes Siksakubur.A name that will, either, make people smile or frown when they hear it for the for the first time. Why is the name in Bahasa Indonesia ?. Why didn’t they choose an “English named“ band ?. And the most important question is, why Siksakubur ?. A question that has been asked over and over and is making the boys tired of answering. But the answer must be given. There’s only one reason and one reason only. If Brazil got Sepultura, then Indonesia got Siksakubur. Sepultura itself, holds a strong influence on the band. It is quite understandable because Sepultura is one the biggest band in extreme metal. Gorust ( drum ), Godel ( Vocal, guitar ), and Bembenk ( bass ) was Siksakubur’s first formation. The formation was changed after a couple of months with having Rosadist(RIP) and Has as their newest member. And Godel had to stepped out of the band. Then the frontal change of the members , causes the change of positions in the other band members. Now the positions are, Godel ( Vocal ),Rosadist (RIP) ( Guitar ), Bemberk (Guitar ),Has ( bass ) and Gorust ( drum ). Did the formation last ?. No ! Specially when Has left the band in November 1997, which caused the band in a stagnant phase for quite a while until Burgenk joins the band in July 1998. The ignorance and lack of loyalty for the band are the reason that made Bembenk, followed by Rosadist (RIP), left the band in the middle of 1999, not long after Burgenk officially joins the band. It is impossible for a band to exists after continuously losing both of their guitarists. Next, the one simple question would be, how to keep the band alive and growing ?. The question was answered when Japs joined the band, replacing Godel, who finally are joined the band with the agreement of the other remaining members, of course. Then, what seems to be, a solid line up for the band, managed to release their first album in the middle of 1999. The first album, titled, “The Carnage“ which was made with a limited budged, was released under a different label. Extreme Souls. Prod. It was released in audio CD and cassette format and was considered as the band’s challenging project. Where they were challenged to leave the old tradition of playing other band’s songs and was on their way of creating and stepping forward towards a more mature way of making musical works. Good feedbacks were given by people from inside and also outside of Indonesia. And the good feedbacks that they’re accepting stimulates them to create another one. The second album was called, “Back to Vengeance”, released in cassettes but still carrying the same formation and mission. The good responds towards the album, caught the interest of a major label in the Netherlands called , From Beyond Prods / Displeased Recs. was planning to give the license for Siksakubur’s album so that they can release the album in a CD format, aiming for the European and American market. The success of the second album was not followed by the success of the band in keeping the togetherness amongst them selves. On February 2002, due to busy schedule and the lack of dedication for the band, causing Godel as the guitarist, leaving the band. The empty position didn’t lasted long before it’s filled again. And the person that stepped in was two people that wasn’t a stranger to the band. The two names were Bimorbid and Andre was mentioned and was approved to join the band as the new guitarists. But, caused by personal issues between band members, Bimorbid didn’t stay long in the formation and was forced to leave the band. Bigger problems emerged when in September 2002, when Burgenk had to leave to Malaysia for academicals purpose. But this last problem was solved by accepting Yudi Bebek as their new bassist until today. When all ideas are gathered, then there was no reason for them to create and concentrate in making their new album. The album itself was titled, ”Eye Cry“ and was released under the label Rottrevore Records. After the success of “Eye Cry“, in the beginning of 2006, Siksakubur sets their minds on finishing another album, their 4th album, which was titled , “Podium“, still under Rottrovore Records and was planned to be released in April 2007. After finish recording “Podium“, Siksakubur had to deal with another lost of their original member, who is also one of the band’s creator. Andyan Gorust officially left SiksaKubur on January 15th 1997. One of the hardest decision for Gorust and also for the band. The reason for his resign was because he was finding difficulties to make time between his work and the band. And that his work is taking most of his time off the band. Siksakubur lost its leader and also the person that had been building Siksakubur since the beginning, and has been doing it for almost 10 years. But around the middle of January 2007, the drummer position was taken by Pandie Grebes (Sadistis, Cryptical Death) as an additional. After accompanying Siksakubur in a few gigs, Pandie was replaced by Prama, because Pandie wasn’t focusing enough on the band. The struggle is finally paying off with the feedback they are getting from the gigs that were held in the city or outside the city. They’ve had manage to appear in some of the very prestigious events and gigs in Indonesia. They’ve played in Bogor – Tangerang – Bekasi – Surabaya – Cirebon – Klaten – Semarang – Medan – Makassar and other big, also small, cities in Indonesia. The events that they’ve been in were, “Bandung Brisik 4“, “ Total Uyut 4 “ in Bali, “ Monster of Rock “ in Jogyakarta , and Purwokerto and also , “ Hitam Hitam on Stage “ in Jakarta. All of those was a part of SiksaKubur’s long his history. And it will still continue in the future.
